Universal Periodic Review – Qualche informazione
Established by General Assembly, the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a new Human Rights mechanism. Through it, the Human Rights Council reviews, on a periodic basis, the fulfilment by each of the 192 United Nations Member States of their Human Rights obligations and commitments. The 5th Session, which will begin on the 4th of May and will end on the 15th, will focus in particular on some States, for example: Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Chile, Viet Nam and Yemen. Each Member States of the United Nations is reviewed once every four years, and, during the examination, it has to present the national Human Rights’ status through a National Report. The documentation is completed by a Summary edited by the High Commissioner for Human Rights and by a Report drawn up by some stakeholders, for example NGOs and/or the Civil Society.
