Training

IIMA offers a theoretical and practical course on UN mechanisms for the protection of human rights during the Human Rights Council sessions, giving participants the opportunity to increase their understanding of human rights and meet with significant people in the field. Participants in the course gain practical experience to take back with them to their own countries and situations. There are three core objectives:

  • Learn how to read the situations of your own country regarding human rights violations
  • Know the commitments your own country has undertaken when ratifying the international treaties
  • Identify according to the Salesian educational method, how to intervene to strengthen and protect the rights of the child, the young and women.

By taking the course, participants are trained to engage with the UN system and, therefore, become more active human right defenders.
